North Ridge Studio Renovation
The North Ridge Studio renovation transformed an underutilized loft space above the client's garage into a functional and inspiring pottery studio. The project began with the installation of Rockwool insulation, providing fireproof, soundproof, and hydrophobic properties to ensure a safe and comfortable environment.
Storage walls were framed, and custom doors were built to maximize space and functionality. Drywall was applied throughout the studio, including the stairway leading to the loft, creating a clean, seamless look.
To enhance the studio's aesthetic and natural lighting, pine tongue-and-groove boards with a satin finish were installed on the ceiling and used for the custom storage doors. The reflective properties of the satin finish allow natural light to flow throughout the space. The window and door trim were crafted from poplar, selected for its superior paint-grade qualities, while the baseboards were made of pine to complement the ceiling and doors.
The staircase was constructed with poplar paint-grade risers, red oak stair treads, and a beech railing, finished with black hardware to create a cohesive and modern design. This renovation effectively blends form and function, resulting in a bright, inviting pottery studio that fosters creativity and craftsmanship.
